2019 Student Scholarships

2019 Student Scholarships

Dear Superintendents, Directors of Special Services, and Colleagues:

The New Jersey Association of School Social Workers is offering scholarship awards in the amount of $ 500.00 to graduating seniors, who have been identified as Eligible for Special Education and Related Services, who intend on going to postgraduate training: vocational journeyman, county community or four year college. We will be awarding this incentive to students statewide.

The NJASSW is dedicated to serving the student, family and school community. We believe in maximizing academic opportunities and enhancing problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills in students. We help parents participate effectively in their children’s educational program, and using appropriate school and community resources. We assist teachers in understanding and providing resources to help them effectively work with all students.

If you or other designated staff would like to nominate a potential student for consideration of this special award, please send a letter of recommendation which will include supporting data, brief background of the student’s growth and development within his/her special education program, and future goals.

All materials must be submitted by May 15, 2019 to: Donna L. Davis, 80 Greenwood Drive, Millburn, NJ 07041

The decision will be based on the review of information provided and will be made on or about June 8, 2018. Recipients will be notified prior to graduation.

Please be assured that all student information will be kept in confidence, and only requested to aid in the selection of a worthy candidate.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to make the recommendation of a student for this wonderful opportunity. If there are any questions or concerns, please contact me at davisema@aol.com.

Sincerely yours,

Donna L. Davis
