In this workshop the attendees will learn effective ways of working with students on a variety of issues relevant to the school environment. Discussion areas include suicide, self–injury and substance abuse assessment, common issues that students exhibit in elementary through high School. How age shapes interaction, reaction and parent involvement, analysis of counseling versus administrator /disciplinary roles and how these lines are sometimes blurred. Additional topics will be the use of Character Education and the planning if school wide programs and the effect it can have on the building. Confidentiality, record keeping, setting up an office that promotes a welcoming and safe environment, burn out, self–care and compartmentalization.

Directions from New Jersey Turnpike (North & South): Take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 8A. Bear left. Exit the left ramp (Jamesburg, Route 32 (East). Continue straight through two traffic lights. Make a right turn onto Centre Drive (Forsgate Country Club is located directly across the street from Centre Drive). Bear to the left and NJPSA/FEA is on the left.
